Coca-Cola Amatil has completed its $58 million takeover of the maker of Fiji Bitter, but says it will not take total control of the brewer.

The bottling company today said it now holds 89.6 per cent of Pacific Beverages, which had previously been owned by Foster's.

CCA initially planned to seek total ownership of the brewer, but today said it no longer intended to acquire the remaining minority shareholdings.

Under the terms of the sale of CCA's previous beer business to SABMiller, CCA is restrained from selling, distributing or manufacturing beer in Australia until the end of 2013, but can distribute beer in other markets.

CCA says it plans to sell Fiji Bitter and Bounty Rum in Australia from December 2013.
