An extension of deadline has been given to One Hundred Sands Limited to commence the actual constructions of casino in Denarau, Nadi.

Fiji’s Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the construction was supposed to start last year but the company has been an extension and if they do not meet the construction requirements within that period then there would be consequences.

“There was delay as it was suppose to start last year and they have some issues with respect to financial arrangements but we’ve given them an opportunity whereby an expansion is given,” he said

“They are now expected to start in May,” he said.

One Hundred Sands Limited is the first company to have received a casino license to operate in Fiji and the luxury casino is expected to create around 1600 employment.

The casino is expected to open in October this year.
