18 of the 52 Nasese buses have been checked and are now back on the road.
Land Transport Authority CEO Naisa Tuinaceva said the rest of the buses are still being checked.
Tuinaceva said the recent fires was due to electrical faults which includes fitting of extra lights and sound system such as the boom box and also due to naked wiring.
He said they are removing all the extra wiring and ensuring that proper installations are being done.
He said the audit is to ensure all the systems are safe.
Meanwhile he said the recent bus fires have nothing to do with the e-ticketing consoles.
